Kettering Driving Test Route - 10
(16/8/26, 10:04)
This test route goes in a big loop through the villages of Great Harrowden, Orlingbury & Broughton.
The examiner mentioned coasting which is where the clutch is being held down more than is necessary during driving and means you don't benefit from engine braking.
1. Drive out of the Driving Test Centre and turn left. At the T junction turn right onto Orion Way. The road bends to the left continuing on Orion Way. The road bends to the right continuing on Orion Way. 2. At the McDonald’s roundabout follow the road ahead taking the 2nd exit. At the Tesco roundabout take the 3rd exit onto 3. the A509. The examiner says follow the signs to Wellingborough. At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit following the road ahead. At the big roundabout take the 4. 3rd exit A509 towards Wellingborough. 5. On approach to the next roundabout take the right lane to follow the road ahead, this did not happen on this one, they stayed in the left lane (signposted Sym Pk). 6. Follow the road ahead.
By staying in the left hand lane and realising that they needed to be in the right lane, they had to move to the right lane. This is the rear view where you see the yellow MINI have to slow down. This caused them to get a serious fault and fail their test.
7. At the mini roundabout follow the road ahead. 8. Keep following the road ahead. 9. Follow the road ahead. 10. Enter Great Harrowden. Turn right onto Orlingbury Road B574. 11. Pull over somewhere safe on the left. 12. Follow the road ahead.
There was a serious fault (fail) for overtaking a cyclist with a right bend ahead and a driver (minor) fault for not keeping up with the speed of the road.
13. At the roundabout follow the road ahead continuing on Orlingbury Road, after a while you leave Little Harrowden. 14. Enter Orlingbury, you will come up to the cyclists and we overtook them too close to the right bend, which was a serious fault. 15. Follow the cyclist, this road leads to Pytchley Road. Pull over and drive on again. 16. Continue on Pythcley Road. 17. The cyclists were overtaken. 18. Follow the road ahead.
19. Enter 40 mph speed limit, 'SLOW' painted on the road, enter crossroads, national speed limit. 20. Enter Broughton, 30 mph limit. 21. Road bends to right entering High Street. 22. Traffic calming measures then follow the road ahead. 23. Pull over on the left and drive on again. 24. Leave Broughton, at the end of the road turn right onto the A43 towards Kettering.
25 & 26. Follow the A43 towards Kettering. 27. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit signposted A14 Huntingdon. Enter and stay on the A14. 28. Continue on the A14, left lane segregates, go past the Services. 29. Take the next slip road and at the roundabout take the 1st exit onto A509 which is signposted 'Kettering South Business Area'. 30. Follow the road ahead at the roundabout. At the next roundabout take the second exit following the road ahead onto Orion Way. 31.
