Driving to a race

(100 metres & 4 by 100 metre relay sprint).
I drove from my home in Orton Goldhay, Peterborough to Rockingham Triangle Athletics track in Corby, a journey of c.25 miles.

I was nervous about sprinting and I was trying to focus my mind.

When sprinting I get tunnel vision and focus on the finishing line or the changeover of the baton.

Everything else goes out of your mind.

When driving you need to move your eyes a lot and take everything in to drive well.

I had to compartmentalise the sprinting and put it away so I could concentrate on my driving skills.

When racing I arrive an hour early to do plenty of warming up and get my body ready.

I need to maybe consider allowing time for my mind to move from driving to getting ready for the sprint.
